Robert Scudamore

I joined TWI in May 2000 having completed a PhD in composite materials at Liverpool University.

I started work on welding of plastics, mainly on the cutting edge Clearweld innovation. When TWI Yorkshire opened I moved to Sheffield and became involved in the development of laser deposition. I have since been promoted to Technology Group Manager covering Electron Beam, Friction and Laser Processes.

The great strength that TWI has is that there is flexibility in our business model that allows employees to find their 'fit', whether you join straight from education or from a more industrial background. For example in the Project Leader positions, technical, innovation, project management, commercial, business support, training, business development and other skills are needed, the balance of which you can customise within your role to fit your skill set and ambitions.
