CrackFirst wins national award
The Worshipful Company of Scientific Instrument Makers (WCSIM) have awarded their prestigious Annual Achievement Award for 2005 to the CrackFirst TM sensor system. This award recognises outstanding contributions to the British scientific instrument industry. The award was presented at the WCSIM Annual Dinner in February this year.
This system, when installed on a structure indicates the portion of the design life that has been consumed and enables engineers to estimate its remaining life.
The CrackFirst TM system was developed through the collaboration of TWI Ltd, FMB, Micro Circuit Engineering Ltd, UMIST and Caterpillar Peterlee (A division of Caterpillar (UK) Limited) in a project funded by the DTI's LINK Sensor and Sensor Systems for Industrial Applications Programme.
'CrackFirst TM won our Achievement Award in a very strong field: it exemplifies the excellence of scientific instrument making in Britain' said Carl Saunders-Singer, Master, WCSIM.
