Lord Mayor of Sheffield's Technology Briefing at TWI Yorkshire Technology Centre

The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Mrs Jane Bird, accompanied by The Lord Mayor's Consort, Mr Roger Bird, visited TWI Yorkshire recently.

The Lord Mayor had attended last years successful Cutting Edge seminar at Sheffield University and wanted to take up the invitation to visit us here in her last weeks of office. Briefing the Lord Mayor on our activities, Rob Scudamore highlighted the success that TWI has already had in both creating and safeguarding jobs locally.

During the tour demonstrations of Friction Stir Welding and Laser Direct Metal Deposition were seen and the opportunity was taken to introduce members of staff. The Lord Mayor and her consort were clearly very impressed with what they saw and promised to draw attention to our work in the final report on her time in office to Sheffield City Council.
