TWI has significant experience in assisting with the resolution of technical disputes between organisations. The extensive breadth and depth of knowledge gained within TWI over the past 50 years has resulted in many companies seeking our expert opinion with respect to joining, or material, related disputes.

If we are involved at the early stages of a dispute the impartial evidence we generate has, in many cases, been sufficient for both parties to reach an agreement without cost and time implications of proceeding to court.

However, should agreement not be reached and the case does reach court, TWI can provide expert witnesses with appropriate qualifications and experience. One of the many advantages of using TWI for this work is that what might begin as a welding problem, for example, might require expert input from many other disciplines, such as NDE, metallurgy, corrosion, fatigue and design. At TWI all of this experience is available in-house, enabling us to provide a seamless service.

TWI can act for any companies, with the following caveats:

  • TWI will not act for a non-member company against a member company.

  • Should both companies be members of TWI, we will act for the first of the companies to contact us and inform the other company of our intention.
