TWI Technology Centre (North East)
TWI's mission is to deliver world class services in joining materials, engineering and allied technologies to meet the needs of a global membership and its associated community.
TWI Technology Centre (North East), set up in 1992 in Middlesbrough, is an extension of the resources at company headquarters in Cambridge, and complements TWI's work with key technologies:
REMTEC, the free technical support programme for SMEs in the UK's North East, funded by the Regional Development Agency One NorthEast is also based at Riverside Park, Middlesbrough.
TWI's Low Carbon Energy Manufacturing Technology Centre opened in October 2009. The centre houses the latest technologies for reduced pressure electron beam welding, tandem twin wire submerged arc welding, SurfiSculpt, electron beam texturing, composites and microwave drying and coatings.
In addition, TWI North East runs a wide ranging training and examination programme in welding, NDT, inspection and hosts Europe's largest deepwater diving and underwater technologies tank
