This animation is of a stress analysis of a sequentially coupled model of a weld in a tube carrying a fluid. The transient thermal results from the first model (see Thermal Model Animation) are mapped and the transient stresses are then predicted. After the welding and subsequent cooling, the residual stresses are predicted.

The axial residual stresses after each pass are shown in the animation. Finally, the effect of thinning the internal tube wall - caused by flow accelerated corrosion (FAC) - on the stress field is simulated.
