TWI - Granta Park
TWI was formed in March 1968 by the amalgamation of the Institute of Welding and the British Welding Research Association (BWRA). BWRA was established in the grounds of Abington Hall, near Cambridge in 1946 in order that large scale tests of welded structures might be carried out.
The company expanded on this site and purchased adjacent land to create a high quality technology park - Granta Park. TWI remains the focal point of the park with a substantial building replacing old laboratories in 2003.
Laboratories and offices are also established in the North East of England, in Yorkshire and Humber, Wales and in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
TWI is a membership-based organisation offering contract R&D, consultancy and technology transfer to Industrial Members.
Individuals may join as Professional Members or members of the Welding and Joining Society.
We also have conference facilities available for hire and we manage awards for individuals making outstanding technical and professional contributions to the industry.
