MI21 - Metals Information for the 21st Century

A comprehensive information service of metallic materials and welding, brazing and soldering consumables - this is MI21.

Funded by Objective 1 through NAMTEC, the project partners are World Metals Index, IoM3, TWI and Granta Design. They are working together to build a database covering metals, welding, brazing and soldering consumables which will supply a central information source giving invaluable commercial information to manufacturing and allied industries.

The database, compiled by experts in information science and metals, will cover metals selection and specification, welding consumables, stock forms and suppliers and national and international standards.

Direct personal access to information specialists for further information, advice and problem solving will be made available on subscription to individuals and companies.

The database design has been completed. Data is currently being added and will include information such as chemical composition, mechanical properties and supplier details. It is expected that access to the electronic database via a website together with the direct personal information services will be available in autumn of 2005.
