Requirements for the Class of SENIOR MEMBER (SenMWeldl)
The class of Senior Member provides recognition at CEng level of those having gained substantial welding/joining knowledge, understanding, and experience demonstrable by a recognised welding/joining qualification, published work or documentary evidence. It is therefore a class for the welding/joining experts and candidates should meet the following requirements:

Plus
Knowledge of Welding Technology |
AND
Demonstrate that he/she has acquired a substantial level of knowledge of welding/joining technology as evidenced by one of the following:

Plus
Training |
AND
Have undergone an approved programme of training in engineering, or in another appropriate technical or scientific field, of two years minimum duration. |

Plus
Experience |
AND
Have had responsible experience of a technical or scientific nature, extending over not less than two years, in relation to the development or application of welding or one of the allied technologies. This experience must be gained after graduation. |

Responsibility |
AND
Hold a position of responsibility at Chartered Engineer for a minimum of 5 years relevant to welding and joining or an allied technology. |

Plus
Professional Review |
AND
Satisfy the aims of the Professional Review Interview procedure, unless already registered as a Chartered Engineer or a Member of The Welding Institute or requested by the Membership, Education, Registration Committee. |

Plus
Professional Development |
AND
Maintain and enhance competence with professional development through personal reviews and objectives, related activities, provision of evidence and evaluation of outcomes. |
Fees
1 April 2008 to 31 March 2009
NB: These fees are non-refundable

Application fee payable on submission of application:
£60
NB: Fee to be offset against appropriate entrance fee for those candidates not requiring a Professional Review Interview. If a Professional Review Interview is conducted the £60 will be used to cover the cost.

Transfer fee payable on submission of application:
£40
If a Professional Review Interview is required no additional charge will be made.

Individual Route Assessment
For candidates whose qualifications require Individual assessment for equivalence against exemplifying qualifications there will be an assessment fee of £50.00, payable on either submission of application or receipt of notification that qualifications require Individual Route Asessment.
