Strong demand for Joining Forces Scotland technical assistance
The first Joining Forces Scotland programme closes at the end of March 2009; but we hope to continue, with a second phase, starting later this year.
Enthusiastically received by Scottish companies, the first programme's success has exceeded expectations, confirming a strong demand for technical assistance to improve engineering design, manufacture, profitability and competitiveness.
So far, 25 companies have received (at no cost, thanks to funding by Scottish Enterprise) in-depth technical assistance from TWI specialists and facilities. In addition, around 170 people attended four Joining Forces Scotland technical events run in Aberdeen, Dunfermline, Edinburgh and Renfrew.
Here's a small sample of the feedback from companies assisted under Joining Forces Scotland:
'TWI support through Joining Forces Scotland has been great - we are delighted with the work done! It has enabled us to meet our quality objective for this year under BS 9001.' Sandy Brown, Managing Director, AG Brown Ltd.
'Joining Forces Scotland is an excellent mechanism for accessing TWI's professional technical support, which will directly benefit our design and manufacturing processes.' Charles Taylor, Structural Engineering Manager, Pelamis Wave Power Ltd.
'Assistance through Joining Forces Scotland is central to developing our offshore business. The quality of support has been brilliant.' Andy Curran, Managing Director, Houston's of Cupar.
