What is Joining Forces Scotland?
Joining Forces Scotland is an in-depth technical assistance service for engineering manufacturing companies based in Scotland. It's for companies already serving the energy sector and for businesses that can potentially supply products and services to the industry.
How much technical assistance will Scottish Enterprise pay for?
Up to seven days technical assistance, practical know-how or training will be provided by Joining Forces Scotland and paid for by Scottish Enterprise.
Who is providing the technical assistance?
Assistance is provided by TWI Ltd, which has similar programmes operating successfully in Wales and in the North West, North East and South Yorkshire regions of England. (Since 2004, TWI's UK technical assistance programmes have created and safeguarded over 3,350 jobs and more than £210m turnover.)
What can my technical assistance be used for?
Assistance is tailored to the needs of each company but here are some examples of what it could be used for:
- troubleshooting production and quality problems
- developing more efficient manufacturing techniques to increase productivity and reduce costs
- enhancing workforce skills
- exploring more effective technologies, designs and materials
- accelerating innovation to bring a new product to market.
How do I request my no-cost technical assistance?
Use this button to e-mail Sarah Welch at TWI to request technical assistance. In your e-mail message, please outline what you require. You will not have to pay for technical assistance under Joining Forces Scotland: up to 7 days is funded by Scottish Enterprise. Sarah is also contactable on 01223 899 287.
24/7 technical information
As well as technical assistance using TWI specialists and laboratories there's 'JoinIT', your 24/7 technical information source on TWI's website. To get the best from this you'll need a login; if you do not have one please complete online registration to receive yours. If you've forgotten your login, e-mail Jenny Bloomfield at TWI giving your full name and usual e-mail address.
Why not look at the latest issue of 'Connect', TWI's technical news magazine.
In October's e-bulletin we'll be looking at the wide-ranging types of information available on TWI's website.
You will not have to pay for information on TWI's website: your access to this is funded by Scottish Enterprise.
Yours sincerely
The Joining Forces Scotland team at TWI
