TWI achieves ISO 14001 certification

TWI has received ISO 14001 certification from the international certification body Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Ltd (LRQA) for its Abington site. This confirms that the company's environmental management system meets the requirements of the international standard.

Key requirements of the standard include the need to be in full legal compliance with all relevant legislation, identification of the environmental aspects and impacts associated with the company's business and the setting of objectives and targets to assist in the continual improvement of performance required by the standard.

Certification is the culmination of two years' hard work. During this time, TWI has introduced the management system, greatly increased the range and quantity of materials being recycled and introduced a number of energy saving initiatives.

Chief Executive, Bob John comments 'This is a great achievement only made possible by the support and commitment of all staff. Certification demonstrates that TWI takes its responsibilities to the environment seriously. In addition to the obvious environmental benefits, an increasing number of clients prefer to deal with ISO 14001 certified companies so our business position will be enhanced. Finally, we expect to make cost savings as a result of energy saving, increased recycling, reduced landfill costs and a variety of other innovative sources. The challenge now is to build on this position for all our futures'. Copyright © 2005 TWI Ltd
