  • Intute: Science, Engineering and Technology is a gateway for higher education and research to high quality information resources. It offers evaluations of relevant websites, search systems restricted to UK engineering sites and classified resource lists.
    Areas highlighted include aerospace and defence engineering, bioengineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, engineering design, environmental engineering, manufacturing engineering, materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, mining and mineral processing, nanotechnology, occupational health and safety, petroleum and offshore engineering, and sustainable development.   • Recent Advances in Manufacturing (RAM) is a database of bibliographic information for manufacturing and related areas. It covers items in over 500 journals as well as books, videos and conference proceedings from 1990. RAM covers all aspects of manufacturing and research. [last looked at on 7 June 2007]

  • Offshore Engineering Information Service has information about publications and meetings dealing with oil and gas exploration and production, offshore structures and pipelines, subsea systems, offshore health and safety, marine environmental protection, underwater operations, diving and ROVs, resources of the seabed and renewable energy, petroleum economics and engineering.   • Student Guide to Engineering Resources offers selected links to web resources on general engineering, aerospace, automobile & marine engineering, agricultural engineering, civil, building and structural engineering, chemical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, energy and power, materials engineering, manufacturing and production engineering, mechanical engineering, military, mining, transport, water management and Engineering Portals.   • Engineering Information Inc. offers the Engineering Village 2, a search service for subscribers bringing together the major engineering bibliographic databases Ei Compendex*Plus and INSPEC, a database of engineering websites, standards and specification, news and patent information.   • ENGnetBASE, Engineering Handbooks Online, is a database containing over 70 premier resources, including the CRC engineering handbooks. The site contains data, facts, figures, graphs, equations, illustrations, charts, etc. Available only to subscribers. [last looked at on 7 June 2007]

  • INSPEC is a major English-language information service providing access to the world's scientific and technical literature in physics, electrical engineering, electronics, communications, control engineering, computers and computing, and information technology.   • Dialog Select offers subscribers access to selected Dialog Corp files. This includes extensive bibliographic databases on technology, materials and engineering in DialogTech . [last looked at on 7 June 2007]

  • ProQuest - CSA Illumina offers access for subscribers to bibliographic databases including Weldasearch, Mechanical Engineering Abstracts, Metadex, Engineered Materials Abstracts (advanced polymers, composites and ceramics), Materials Business File, ANTE: Abstracts in New Technologies and Engineering, Aerospace & High Technology Database, Civil Engineering Abstracts, Environmental Engineering Abstracts, Mechanical & Transportation Engineering Abstracts, Mechanical Engineering Abstracts, Polymer Library, Ceramics Abstracts, Corrosion Abstracts and Science and Technology Digest.   • TechXtra lets one search across more than 4 million records from a large number of different databases containing technology-related content, including articles, technical reports, digital theses and dissertations, books, eprints, news items, job announcements, video, learning & teaching resources, and key websites.   • Scientific.Net is a large collection of research papers on materials science and engineering, available to registered users. [last looked at on 7 June 2007]

  • The Yahoo! Science: Engineering classified listing of Web sites on most aspects of engineering. [last looked at on 7 June 2007]

  • Athenus Engineering and Science Search is an engineering search engine which offers browsing of specific categories of engineering (including aerospace, automotive, civil, industrial, materials, nuclear, reliability and structural) and covers websites, journals, papers and media sources.   • SciCentral Engineering Sciences offers current engineering research news. Part of the SciQuest news service. [last looked at on 7 June 2007]

  • Science.gov gives access to US government-sponsored research results. [last looked at on 18 December 2007]

  • Higher Education Academy - Engineering Subject Centre is a centre for all engineering academics in the UK which provides subject-based support to promote both learning and teaching. Includes news, events listings and educational resources. [last looked at on 7 June 2007]

  • The Institution of Engineering and Technology was formed by the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) and the Institution of Incorporated Engineers (IIE). The website offers information about membership, publications and activities plus industry sector news: Communications; Computing and Control; Electronic Systems & Software; IT; Management; Manufacturing; Power; and Transport.   • AECPortico from NBS Services of the Royal Institute of British Architects is a UK portal to information on architecture, engineering and construction.   • The Engineering and Technology Board (etb) works in partnership with business and industry, Government, education and the engineering profession to improve the perception of science, engineering and technology (SET) in the UK.   • GlobalSpec provides access to searchable databases of product design data and offers vendor catalogue pages (in Adobe Acrobat format). [last looked at on 7 June 2007]

  • Machines Production is a mechanical engineering site in English and French covering selection of machines, equipment, testing devices, cutting tools and lubricants, subcontractors in France, the main relevant exhibitions, and more. [last looked at on 7 June 2007]
