EuroStir ® Newsletter No 4 - Summary

By: Stephan Kallee (TWI Ltd) stephan.kallee@twi.co.uk

Introduction

This newsletter describes how information about friction stir welding (FSW) and the EuroStir ® project has been released into the public domain during the period from 1 June 2002 to 30 November 2002 and provides details of FSW related events. The EuroStir ® Collaborators have made significant efforts in publicising this EUREKA programme on 'European Industrialisation of Friction Stir Welding', and so far EuroStir ® has been mentioned in more than fifty-five publications. [1-57] In addition to publications in papers and on the Internet, the EuroStir ® Collaborators have also made contributions to friction stir specific meetings, as follows:

Collaborators

"Bringing European Innovation to a World Market"

The EuroStir ® project on European Industrialisation of Friction Stir Welding now has a budget of euro8.5M ( Fig.1) and 43 Collaborators ( Table 1). [58,59]

The project is open to Collaborators from United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Poland, Spain and Sweden and from other EUREKA countries ( Table 2). Interest in being involved in the project is still high, and several prospective collaborators have requested detailed information on how to join the EuroStir ® project.
