EuroStir ® Seminar at Instytut Spawalnictwa: 'New Technologies' (20 Nov 2002)

A seminar on New Technologies was held at Instytut Spawalnictwa in Gliwice (Poland) on 20 November 2002 [1] ( Fig.1).

Papers on friction stir welding and rotary friction welding were presented by engineers of Instytut Spawalnictwa, [2,3] TWI, [4] GKSS, [5] DLR [6] and Harms & Wende. [7] The seminar was held in Polish using experienced translators during the presentations by the foreign speakers ( Fig.2). Polish proceedings have been published and distributed to the attendees.

Laboratory demonstrations on friction stir welding of AA1050 aluminium sheets were given in the afternoon in Instytut Spawalnictwa's laboratory ( Fig.3). The attendees also used the laboratory tour for one-to-one discussions about potential applications of friction stir welding and the necessary machines and tools.
