• The UK Health and Safety Executive is a government organisation charged with ensuring that risks to people's health and safety from work activities are properly controlled. Their web site includes information on their publications, services and research activities, an online enquiry service, and links to other sites. In English with part in Welsh also. • HSE Direct aims to provide the most authoritative source of UK health and safety information. Parts of the site are only available to subscribers. The free area includes daily news summaries, all HSE press releases, health and safety conference diary, useful contacts and HSE free publications. The subscription area includes background information on health and safety in the workplace, HSE guidance series, UK and European legislation, HSE forms and summaries of selected health, safety and environment cases. • International Labour Organization (ILO) includes information on rights at work, standards, employment, social protection and social dialogue. Includes the World of Work magazine. In English, French and Spanish with links to local websites in Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, German, Italian, Japanese, Mongolian, Portuguese, Brazilian, Turkish and Russian. • US Department of Labor, Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) offers information on compliance assistance, laws, regulations, enforcement, news, specific industries including construction and maritime, statistics, testing and analysis and events. • US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) gives information about its services and activities including databases, research, publications, meetings and conferences. It has an extensive list of links. The electronic library of Construction Occupational Health and Safety, eLCOSH, presents articles, factsheets, links etc. for welders. In English and Spanish. • The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety offer information on their publications and access to their databases for subscribers. In French and English. [last looked at on 1 Nov 2007]
  
  
• University of Occupational and Environmental Health, Japan offers a list in English of links to information on conferences, databases (including medical and chemical), organisations (Japan, USA, Australia, New Zealand, UK etc.), educational establishments and mailing lists. • Office of Public Sector Information contains the full text of all UK Statutory Instruments (i.e. all Acts of Parliament and Regulations) since 1998, offering quick, direct access to UK law in health and safety matters. • The European Union site provides information on EU law, including health and safety issues. Includes a wide range of European languages.
