Professional Membership - nationally recognised mark of attainment for engineers, technicians and others involved in welding, joining and related activities.

Engineering Council - TWI is a Nominated Body of the Engineering Council and most classes of Professional Membership automatically confer Registration with the UK Engineering Council in the appropriate category.

Chartered Engineer registrants are eligible for European registration through FEANI and the award of the Eur Ing title.

European Welding Federation (EWF) and International Institute of Welding (IIW) Diplomas - international qualifications, mutually recognised between EWF and IIW, awarded to individuals who have completed an approved course of study in welding and related subjects. Diplomas are awarded for the life of the holder.

Certification - award of titles to individuals who have demonstrated proven knowledge and current competence to undertake welding and related responsibilities. Certification requires periodic reassessment to verify competence. A wide range of personnel certification schemes are available, many of which carry the well recognised CSWIP brand name (Certification Scheme for Welding and Inspection Personnel) -

National/Scottish Vocational Qualifications - the UK national scheme for identifying job competence. Qualifications are available for professional welding and joining personnel and for NDT personnel.

Welding & Joining Society (WJS) - wide range of technical support, e.g. journals, information via TWI's library, Help Desk and JoinIT TM (which contains information on job vacancies). Branch and technical group meetings and personal benefits, for anyone with an interest in welding and joining technology. Professional membership and a number of other qualifications bring automatic membership of WJS.

Professional Development - guidance on how to plan, record and receive recognition for your personal professional and career development.
