TWI projects carried out for the off-highway equipment and machines sector

TWI experts work with industry worldwide, to apply joining technology efficiently into all manufacturing areas. Specialists can be called in at any stage of a project, or can be contracted from the start as an extension of a company's own resources. An Industrial Member company has full access to any of the services offered.

Project work and direct support available to Industrial Member companies:

The Core Research Programme (CRP) Member Companies have free access to these generic R&D projects. The work forms the basis of TWI's multi million pound funded programme of industrially aligned research. Details of current CRP projects relevant to the off-highway equipment and machines sector are available. Group Sponsored Projects (GSPs) These R&D projects, funded by a number of Member Companies, usually address the medium term needs within a particular industrial sector. Results of the work are only available to the group of participating sponsors. Details of current and recent GSPs involving companies within the off-highway equipment and machines sector are available.
Collaborative Projects Pre-competitive R&D, Technology Transfer and Training projects are carried out in collaboration with other organisations, often as an international partnership. The projects are generally supported by State or EU funds.
Single Client Projects (SCPs) Normally short and medium term consultancy, feasibility or R&D projects which are funded by a particular company. Information and results from this work are strictly confidential to that company. The titles of recent SCPs performed by TWI give an indication of the diverse range of subjects covered.

All project work is geared to industry needs, and is directed by the client's own requirements. Through its projects and consultancy work TWI provides the expertise and solutions to back-up a company's in-house capabilities. An added advantage is that a company may sub-contract to TWI without incurring the full fixed costs involved of running the project themselves. All TWI's confidential consultancy and project work is conducted to ISO 9001 quality standard.

Single client projects (SCPs)

TWI and EWI conduct several hundred of these strictly confidential projects per year. The following list gives an indication of the types of projects undertaken. The case studies, which have all been cleared with the sponsoring companies, give further details.
