Structural components

A structural component is a physically distinguishable part of a structure such as a main structural component like a tubular member, tubular joint, mechanical connectors, clamps, foundation piles and buckets. Some structural components may be classed as critical components as failure of that component would result in failure of the whole structure or a significant part of it.

TWI has been involved in assessing the acceptability of components for use on offshore structures by demonstrating fitness-for-service.
