Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Plants

Power industry

There has been a marked increase in the number of CCGT in recent years due to their relatively low capital cost and efficiency advantages over conventional plant. However, not only are new materials being introduced in an effort to improve performance and reduce the costs of the steam raising plant (HRSGs) but they are also increasingly being cyclically operated. The long-term effect of these combined factors is not fully understood.

TWI's expertise in the development of repair welding procedures, along with work carried out to investigate the characteristics of new materials such as 9-13Cr steels, can make a positive contribution to the reduction of repair costs. Developments in protective coatings and BDT technologies can realise savings in O&M costs across the whole CCGT plant.
