Malaysian uptake of TWI welding softwareTWI recently implemented its welding software at Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn. Bhd. (MMHE) in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia. TWI's Project Engineer, Mr Chen Fun Wee installed and set-up the software at MMHE and then followed up with a five-week training and familiarisation course on-site. Among others from MMHE attending the training course were key personnel Mr Mohamad Ali Hassan, Project QA/QC Manager and Mr Ramamurthy Bhaskar, NDE Lead Engineer. MMHE are now using TWI's Welding CoordinatorTM and NDTspecTM software to manage the welding and quality control of the Sabah Shell Petroleum Co. Ltd Gumusut-Kakap Semi FPS project. WelderqualTM software is being used to manage the qualification of all welders on these various projects. MMHE envisage that the software will enhance the quality of the fabrication and allow instant reporting of progress and performance. Traceability of weld information will also become much easier, according to Mr Ali Hassan. For more information contact Chen Fun Wee chen.f.w@twisea.com or Andy Brightmore andy.brightmore@twi.co.uk
