What is a Group Sponsored Project (GSP)?
Known by some as a Joint Industry Project (JIP), a GSP or JIP is a work programme of mutual interest to a number of organisations each contributing to fund the work. Typically, we have five to twenty Sponsors for a project.
What are the benefits?
You receive substantially more results for your money than could be obtained by single company sponsorship.
You can guide the direction of a significant part of our research effort.
You may use the information gained to further your own business interests.
Is the work confidential?
Results are published only to sponsors for you to use as collectively agreed. You may choose to keep them confidential but, if agreed, we arrange for wider publication.
Is this different from TWI's Core Research Programme?
The CRP reflects the wide interests of our Membership, has long-term objectives and its results are available to all Industrial Members. A topic considered urgent and addressing a particular need of an industry is offered to a select group of companies as a GSP.
Who may participate?
Industrial Members of TWI. Work on development of national and international standards may include non-members by agreement.
How is a GSP launched?
Project outlines are published on our website. We also send them to organisations with an interest in the subject, and to Industrial Members requesting proposals on a regular basis. We generally hold a launch meeting to obtain views from Industrial Members. Attending or requesting notes of the meeting does not commit you to participation in the project, and is free. Following the launch meeting, we usually issue a full proposal, and invite organisations keen to participate to an inaugural meeting.
How do I join?
Either contact Peter Oakley or Maureen Dobinson:
Tel: +44 (0) 1223 899000
Fax: +44 (0) 1223 891280
Or e-mail: projects@twi.co.uk
Don't worry if the project has started - all that is required is payment of the current and back participation fees. Further new projects will be formed throughout the year - ask to be kept informed.
You can also buy into completed projects and receive all reports and results. Instant access to years of work!
