NDTspec

Looking after NDT reports is an essential and expensive part of the QA system for any fabricator. Traceability of NDT reports is important if efficient defect analysis is to be carried out, and welder certification updated. It follows that the documentation associated with these tests should be up-to-date and well organised.

NDTspec is a multi-user application for managing NDT/NDE reports.

Scope

NDTspec is designed to store NDT reports. The screens which are used for data entry and viewing, and the hardcopy printouts, can store all of the data commonly associated with the four main NDT techniques. Included in the program are reports for radiographic, ultrasonic, liquid penetrant and magnetic particle testing, as well as a number of general reports, which can be configured by the user and used for other types, such as visual inspection or eddy current testing.

NDTspec features a Windows-standard user interface, making the program very easy to use.

NDTspec can be operated on a network, so that multiple users can have access to the software.

NDTspec includes professional printout or 'export to .pdf' facilities for all documentation.

NDTspec features comprehensive search and sort routines. This enables you to immediately identify which reports are relevant to which job, weld, welder etc.

NDTspec can store up to three sketches for each report. These sketches can show any details, including the arrangement of the weld, the position of any testing equipment, or the location of any defects.

NDTspec allows you to record multiple welds on each NDT report, saving you typing the equipment details many times.

NDTspec features electronic signatures, so if you start the system and use the 'inspector' password, you can sign-off NDT reports, which prevents other users from changing the data within these reports. Many of the fields within NDTspec's record have associated drop down menus, which minimises the amount of typing required, and helps to ensure that consistent terminology is used.

NDTspec features an automatic link to the TWI Welding Coordinator system, for managing fabrication projects. This gives full traceability between production welds and their associated NDE documentation.
