What is REMTEC Technology Transfer?REMTEC Technology Transfer is a free technical support programme for SMEs in the UK's North East. Its objective is to help manufacturing and supply-chain companies insert technology and develop capabilities for efficient product development and improved manufacturing processes. REMTEC Technology Transfer is not only for companies already serving the renewable energy sector but also progressive businesses with the potential to supply products and services to this strategically important, growth industry. Funded by the Regional Development Agency One NorthEast, REMTEC Technology Transfer is run by TWI with its North East base at Riverside Park, Middlesbrough. What do the free technical support services provide?Because all companies are different, TWI technical support is inherently flexible and easily adapted to meet the needs of individual SMEs. Product & Process Review - 2 days FREEA Product & Process Review (PPR) provides 2 days of intensive technical support in any aspect of materials joining or related technical issues. The way a particular PPR is carried out depends on the needs of the company being assisted, but most PPRs are along the following lines: A TWI specialist visits your company. This may be a troubleshooting exercise to solve a specific technical problem, or it might be an evaluation of your manufacturing practices to identify opportunities for reducing costs or investigate areas with potential for productivity or quality improvement. A written report is provided covering key findings and recommendations for action. I want to organise my free technical support now Feasibility Study - 5 days FREEIf follow-up work is recommended after completing a Product & Process Review, a Feasibility Study will be suggested, typically consisting of practical trials or development work in TWI's labs. You'll be given a written report on this work, which is likely to contain evidence of the potential economic and technical benefits of implementing the Feasibility Study findings. Innovation Support - 7 days FREEAfter a Feasibility Study, Innovation Support may be recommended when further development work or producing a prototype could help bring an innovative product to market. Teams of TWI specialists and an extensive range of equipment and facilities can be deployed to help achieve your goal. All work is confidential but some companies have given permission for the publication of Case Studies which show examples of two or more elements of the Product & Process Review + Feasibility Study + Innovation Support tech support package. . . . promote your company - free! We've been told that case studies (see immediately above) can make excellent sales promotion aids. If required, the Helpdesk will organise direct practical assistance, which could be in the form of a Product & Process Review.
