In August Steven Stocks joined TWI to fill the new post of Industry Sector Manager for Energy. Working with the existing Power and Oil and Gas sector teams, in Power Steven will look at the development of increased opportunities in areas such Renewable Energy Technologies Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in addition to wider Energy Efficiency Technologies. Additionally, from his base in Aberdeen, Steven will also be working to expand TWI's already strong portfolio of activities in the Oil & Gas sector.
Steven joins TWI from the Post of Director of Foresighting at Scottish Enterprise where he was responsible for the identification and prioritisation of public sector economic development opportunities in Scotland across the whole energy sector. Steven will continue to be based in Scotland, working from TWI’s Aberdeen facility where he will be looking to maximise TWI’s potential in the wider Energy Sector. In the area of renewable energy, a significant part of this will involve the leveraging of off-shore oil and gas skills and expertise into the emerging off-shore renewables sector i.e. off-shore wind and wave and tidal energy. With an initial Chemistry and Material Science background, Steven will be looking to identify existing and potential new TWI technology capabilities to meet the demands of the wider energy sector.
