I recently sent an e-mail to all the Official Representatives, reminding them of the importance we place on the technical enquiry service within TWI and offering my assistance if Members experience problems with the quality or the timeliness of the response.

It was reassuring to receive many compliments and messages confirming that the service is much appreciated, because we need such feedback to confirm that we are investing our resources in the areas most needed by our Industrial Members.

But there is a limit to the number of questionnaires and market surveys that we can send, and at times we have to use our judgement to make decisions on behalf of our Members with minimal consultation. I hope that on balance, we get it right for both the portfolio of services and range of technical areas that we cover, but please tell me if you disagree.

In this issue of Bulletin, Christoph Wiesner describes TWI involvement in Standards committees. Let me know if you feel that our involvement is not sufficient, or on the contrary excessive, and confirm whether our staff are contributing to the committees where you would expect TWI to have an influence.

Another topic where I would appreciate your feedback is our website. Do you have any suggestions for improvement in presentation, functionality or content? Some of you are heavy users of JoinIT. Others tried once, forgot their password and did not visit the site again. I would like to hear from all types of users and potential users. Like everywhere else, we have finite resources for improving JoinIT, and I would like to be sure that we are investing them wisely.

I look forward to hearing from you
