Personal support through Industrial Membership

Industrial Membership is a service agreement between an organisation and TWI, which enables any employee of a Member company to contact TWI for information and advice. The sources of TWI information include the on-line service JoinIT, the library ( library@twi.co.uk), the literature database Weldasearch ( weldasearch@twi.co.uk) and TWI expert staff. There is no requirement to quote a member number or to pre-register, except for the on-line service. Simply call us or send us an e-mail.

Through Industrial Membership, TWI provides an opportunity for your staff to maintain, improve and broaden the knowledge and skills required in their professional lives. Personal development within the organisation often leads to career progression, the award of recognised professional qualifications or simply better job satisfaction. Organisations are made of skilled and dedicated staff, and any contribution to either the skill or the dedication is valuable to the success of business.

To emphasise its commitment to support individuals within Industrial Member companies, TWI is now offering a 25% discount on all scheduled UK training and examination for employees of Member companies. TWI provides training and certification at all levels in welding, joining, inspection, NDT and related activities. Make sure your training manager is aware of the Industrial Member discount, and contact TWI training and examination services to discuss your requirements ( trainexam@twi.co.uk).

The Official Representative of all Industrial Member companies is automatically given free membership of the Welding & Joining Society (WJS). The society provides an effective means of keeping in touch with development in both technology and practice. As well as regional branches, there are Technical Groups, meeting approximately twice a year, in the following areas:

- arc welding
- materials
- offshore oil and gas
- pressure and process plant
- structural integrity

Using the information services, the training opportunities and the technical events organised by TWI, individuals are supported in their efforts to improve their professional development. TWI encourages a structured approach to continuing professional development, and recommends that acquired competences should be validated through certification or registration with the appropriate professional body. In a volatile employment market, this is good advice for both employers and their employees!
