The following is a selection of the most useful websites for those involved in joining and fabrication for the oil and gas industry for the UK and countries other than the USA, which will be covered in the next issue of the Bulletin.
dti: Oil and Gas Directorate - A variety of information is given on the oil and gas industry, with full text of legislation, codes of practice guidance notes and petroleum operations notices included in the site. Details of oil and gas activity data are also included on the site, the information that previously went into the 'Brown Book', under the heading Info/Data.

UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) - The HSE Offshore Safety Division, part of the Hazardous Installations Directorate, has the aim of ensuring a safe working environment in the offshore industry. The website includes safety notices, topic information and an outline of the operational work the division undertakes. www.hse.gov.uk/offshore/index.htm
ISO Standards Development - The ISO site www.iso.org/iso/en/ISOOnline.frontpage is of course a central source for information on international standards, and within it there is a section on standards development from which it is possible to download changes to the standard and to search for maintenance activities on specific standards, such as ISO 15156/MR 0175. This includes a discussion forum and information on enquiries received on interpretation of the standard.

UK Offshore Operators Association (UKOOA) - This is a site organised for the Offshore Operators Association. It includes information on a sustainable development strategy, health and safety issues and a searchable publications list.

Engineering Equipment and Materials Users' Association (EEMUA) - EEMUA's mission is to improve quality and safety, and to reduce the cost of operating industrial facilities by sharing experience and expertise. Its specifications are used by many sectors of industry, and the list of publications is included on the site, with the ability to buy through the online shop.

NORSOK oil and gas standards - The website for the Standardization Organisations of Norway www.standard.no/imaker.exe?id=613&visdybde=1&aktiv=613 includes a link to the NORSOK petroleum industry standards, which are available to download free.
