A short while ago, we implemented significant changes to the look of our web site, particularly the layout of the home page. The feedback we were receiving from the previous layout was that, while content was good, navigating to itwas not so easy and the search engines could be improved.
We have now simplified the navigation and are using menus on the left of the page, many with pop outs, to speed the information you seek.
We have also changed our search engine to the highly acclaimed Vivisimo system which sorts search results into 'clusters' of pages sharing a significant word or phrase. On the left of the search results is a list of the most populated clusters. This list can be extended by clicking 'more'. You can search within these clusters using the 'find in clusters' search box.
The website receives over 20 000 visits per month and is a good shop window for Industrial Members to showcase their products. TWI has just launched a Product and Services Guide, which gives suppliers of welding equipment, materials and consumables a chance to promote their latest products. After a successful pilot programme, we are confident that the feature will be useful for users to find products information and for suppliers to market their product and services.
