Allow me to introduce the team that is responsible for interfacing with both existing Members and potential new Members of TWI. This group, headed by Ian Froment, is there to support your needs and to develop the Membership product to ensure that you, as Members, continue to gain value from your association with TWI.
Ian Froment
Section Manager, Membership Development Ian joined TWI in 1985, working initially in the area of polymer welding and graduated in 1995 with a B.Eng (Hons) in Electronic Engineering. During this time, he worked on a variety of polymer welding applications, ranging from thermoplastic composite welding for aerospace applications to fabrication processes for chemical storage and landfill applications, before moving to the Membership group in 2000.
As well as managing the Membership Development team, Ian is also responsible for interfacing with Members in the Electronics and Medical industry sectors. You can contact him if there are any issues with your Membership or if you want a contact point when you have a technical enquiry but do not know to whom you should speak. Caroline Young
Sector Manager, Oil, Gas and Petrochemical and Power Caroline joined TWI in September 2000 as a Project Leader in the Ceramics Group of the Advanced Materials and Processes Department. She has a PhD in Materials Engineering from Brunel University, West London.
In August 2002, Caroline moved to Industrial Membership recruitment with responsibility for managing a portfolio of existing and potential Members in the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical and Power business sectors. She also provides the Membership interface with TWI's operations in the Middle East, South East Asia and Brazil. Caroline can be contacted at caroline.young@twi.co.uk
Stephan Kallee
Sector Manager, Automotive, Construction and Engineering Stephan joined TWI's Friction Welding Group in 1995 having gained his diploma in Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Munich, where he specialised in production technology and business administration. Stephan has been involved in the development and implementation of friction stir welding (FSW) especially for automotive lightweight structures, aluminium pipelines and high-speed ferryboats.

Jack Gabzdyl
Sector Manager, Aerospace and Equipment, Consumables & Materials Jack joined TWI in 2005. He currently has specific responsibility for the Aerospace and ECM (Equipment Consumable and Materials) industry sectors and is actively involved in improving the possibilities for networking and promotional opportunities for Members in these sectors. He is also responsible for Membership development in India and Korea.
Jack has a PhD in laser materials processing from Imperial College London, and has a solid technical grounding in a variety of arc welding and thermal cutting processes from a 15 year career with BOC Gases. He can be contacted at jack.gabzdyl@twi.co.uk
