A service for Members, designed to direct you towards major web sites that will be of value to your company. Only a small proportion of useful links can be listed in the Bulletin. More links.
The current emphasis is on the whole life of structures, from design to decommissioning, This month, websites on decommissioning in the upstream oil and gas industry are highlighted.
Oil & Gas UK - formerly the United Kingdom Offshore Oil and Gas Industry Association (UKOOA) The leading representative organisation for the UK oil and gas industry has a section of its website devoted to decommissioning, comprising sections on: technical, legislative and project management information; engineering and safety; commercial and public perspectives; work being undertaken by Oil & Gas UK on decommissioning; case studies and other sources of information.

Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR), formerly part of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Includes an overview of decommissioning, including current consultation information on decommissioning; forecast removal dates; approved and draft decommissioning programmes; Government guidance notes on decommissioning; and disused pipeline notifications. Currently the BERR website still guides the user to the DTI website address, even though pages have been updated by BERR:

Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has an offshore section to its website which leads to information on the work being undertaken to ensure health and safety on offshore structures. There is not a specific heading for decommissioning, but typing 'decommissioning' into the 'local search' box, below the list of subjects on the left hand side of the page, brings up a variety of useful documents.

US Department of the Interior, Minerals Management Service (MMS) The offshore programme includes decommissioning in its remit. Finding information on the subject is, however, not simple. The best way is to go to the offshore part of the website as given below, click on the 'Search' button at the top of the screen and search on 'decommissioning'. A number of useful entries are returned in the results.

Oslo and Paris Commissions (OSPAR) guides international cooperation on protection of the marine environment. The OSPAR decision 98/3 on the Disposal of Disused Offshore Installations is included on the website.
