NetRegs offers free environmental guidelines for small businesses in the UK, to help them understand what they need to do to comply with environmental legislation and help to protect the environment. Guidance is givenby business type or environmental topic, and also lists are given of both current and future legislation. Guidance on WEEE RoHS and REACH is included, along with links to useful sites and the ability to set up your own free e-alerts.

Envirowise, a UK government initiative run by AEA Technology plc and SERCO TTI, offers companies free, impartial, confidential advice and support on practical ways to minimise waste and reduce their environmentalimpact. Information and advice is offered by sector; publications, newsletters, events and workshops are listed. The searchable environmental legislation part of the site is currently under construction, and is not working correctly atpresent. Details of how to 'ask an expert', including an advice line number, is included, as is the 'two month challenge', guidance for companies who wish to start making small changes to their work practices.

CIWEM (Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management) is an amalgamated institution covering all aspect of public health, water management, pollution control and environmental management. It offers lists ofevents, training courses, publications, press and media information and e-news. It also includes information resources on water management and climate change, professional directory and membership information and resources.

The leading public body in the UK for protecting and improving the environment in England and Wales offers information on the effect of business and industry on the environment, the latest science,research and monitoring being carried out to produce the Agency's policies and operational work, news items, publications and reports, and the flood map of England of Wales.

The Carbon Trust and Action Energy.org.uk is an independent company set up by the UK government in 2001 to accelerate the move to a low carbon economy. The site includes the press centre, reports briefings and speechesfrom the Trust. It offers insights, explaining the issues and opportunities regarding climate change, practical solutions for business and local government, services for large organisations, a toolkit for small and medium sizedbusinesses, and information on carbon footprinting.

Environment Times a journal available online covering news on environmental issues. It includes a supplier guide, training centre, exhibitions and conferences and the back file of articles from the Environment Times.

Sustainable Development Commission, the UK government's independent watchdog on sustainable development, covering all areas of the United Kingdom. The site covers the role of the commission, what it can do forbusiness, government and at a local level, the policy areas such as consumption and business that are covered, and an outline of the five principles of sustainable development. Publications can be downloaded, and e-bulletins set up.
