Friction stir welding under licence in Germany

The latest in a series of licences to exploit TWI's friction stir welding process has recently been granted to an organisation in Germany.

GKSS, a German research centre, and NEOS, an innovative robot manufacturer, have founded the Application and Technology Centre for Robotic Friction Welding (RIFTEC) located at GKSS Research Centre in Geesthacht. RIFTEC willprimarily be concerned with the application of robotic friction stir welding to industrial components and development of products and procedures based on these applications.
