Local businesses collaborate for long-term research

The Advanced Material and Processes Department at TWI has recently taken delivery of their first customised laboratory press supplied by Rotherwood Machinery Ltd of St Ives in Cambridgeshire.

The machine will be used to support increasing R&T activity at TWI in composites, plastics and adhesives.

Rotherwood Machinery Ltd is a supplier of all types of presses to the composites, plastics and rubber industry and they have a reputation for being at the forefront of pressing technology.

The press will be used to produce sandwich structures and laminates for many industrial sectors including aerospace, automotive and marine.

Interest in composite materials and adhesives is showing continued growth in the search for lighter, stiffer components.
