Make It With Lasers™ marks the millennium

To celebrate ten years of the UK's most successful laser technology transfer programme, a special Millennium Event was held last December in London.

Lord Sainsbury, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Science, gave the keynote address during which he reaffirmed the government's determination to help UK industry to use the latest technological developments.

The Make It With Lasers ^TM programme is sponsored by UK industry and managed by TWI. During the last decade it has raised awareness of the industrial benefits of laser processing in hundreds of companies by means of workshops, seminarsand exhibitions held throughout Great Britain.

During the Millennium Event the 1999 Make It With Lasers ^TM Innovation Award was presented to Surgical Innovations Ltd of Leeds who manufacture precision surgical components in both plastics and metals using lasers for welding, marking and cutting their products.
