Through its new website, Internet users now have a single point of access to TWI's technical know-how and informationon welding and joining technology, as well as to details of the full range of services and capabilities. This includes a structured presentation of TWI's involvement in all the main engineering manufacturing sectors. The comprehensivenew site integrates the JoinIT® online advice and information service with detailed coverage of TWI and its activities. All content in the new site is searchable using the site search engine, and the user interface is designed tobe clear and easy to operate. There is a facility for simple or advanced search.

The site also has a navigation structure based on the main subdivisions of welding and joining technology and the associated materials and engineering aspects, to give a fast track to relevant content. A dynamic links system showsdetails of further content relevant to the user's selected topic. The user is also shown the path followed through the navigation so as to indicate current location explicitly.

Other key features of the site include automatic registration of new users (at the non-member access rights level) and ordering of search results on relevance, loading date or content type. In response to user feedback, a 'shoppingbasket' facility for the Weldasearch database will be introduced at or soon after the main launch date.

All the present site content continues to be accessible free to TWI Industrial Members as part of the membership benefits package. This includes the area exclusive to Members containing Bulletin and Member Reports. Future plansenvisage delivery of training through JoinIT, and this will then be available to Members at a discount similarly to conventional courses. Industrial Members are encouraged to register all relevant staff as JoinIT users.

Other companies and individuals can access much of the content of the new site freely, but will find a charge applied to premium items.

The new website can be found at www.twi.co.uk (although bookmarks to http://joinit.grantapark.com will link directly through).
