Foundation of a new era

On Wednesday 19 September Councillor George Elsbury, Chairman of South Cambridgeshire District Council laid the foundation stone of the new TWI Engineering building at Granta Park.

Councillor Elsbury was introduced by Bevan Braithwaite, Chief Executive of TWI and gave a short speech before laying the foundation stone. He was presented with a silver trowel as a memento of the occasion by Bertil Pekkari,Chairman of The Welding Institute Council.

The new building, due to be completed early in 2002, will house the majority of TWI's technical operations. It will be followed by an adjoining administration block in 2003.
