'The best event yet...'

Connect, no.125, July - August 2003, p.7

This was the verdict of delegates attending the 4th International Friction Stir Welding Symposium in Park City, Utah in May this year. 'I truly enjoyed this event. I learnt more at this symposium than I did in months reading papers'was the comment from one delegate.

The symposium, organised by TWI and Brigham Young University on behalf of the Friction Stir Welding Licensees Association was attended by over 160 delegates from more than 15 countries. The range and content of the technical paperspresented were of the highest standard, and reflected the increasing implementation of the process for welding aluminium, and also the rapid progress being made in welding other materials, especially copper, magnesium alloys andsteels.

Building on this year's success, it is hoped that the next event - to be held in Metz, France on 14-16 September 2004 - will be even larger, thus giving delegates the widest choice of information on industrial takeup and researchinto friction stir welding, as well as the opportunity to meet with experts and to hold informal discussions.
