International friction stir event gathers momentum

The 4th symposium organised by TWI Ltd and Brigham Young University on behalf of the Friction Stir Welding Licensees Association is being held in Park City, Utah, USA on 14-16 May 2003 and looks set to be as great a success as itspredecessors.

Response to the call for papers has been outstanding and as a result there will be over 50 orally presented papers plus poster presentations. Topics include process developments, applications, modelling, metallurgical studies,mechanical properties, corrosion, among others.

Attendance will be essential as the quality of the submissions ensures that this event will give the fullest coverage of recent technical advances, industrial takeup and research. The symposium will attract a worldwide audience ofdelegates and will provide an excellent forum for networking with researchers, suppliers and process users.
