Royal visitor for TWI

TWI hosted Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, during his visit to Cambridge in June.

The Duke has been an Honorary Fellow of The Welding Institute since 1953.

Prince Philip, accompanied by Professor Alison Richard the University Vice Chancellor, was shown around the laboratories and workshops on the Granta Park site by TWI's Chief Executive Bevan Braithwaite. He met staff who showed himthe wide range of work undertaken in joining many different engineering materials.

He also saw demonstrations of friction stir and electron beam welding.
