RISKWISE TM adopted by CRIEPI of Japan

The Central Research Institute of the Electrical Power Industry (CRIEPI) of Japan has become an Associate Partner licencee of RISKWISE. CRIEPI's role is to support the twelve Japanese power industries in research and developmenttogether with consulting services. Two members of CRIEPI visited TWI for training on RISKWISE for Boilers in early 2004.

Nuclear plant dissimilar metal weld project is successfully completed

ADIMEW, a major European project on the safety of welds between dissimilar metal pipes in pressurised water nuclear reactors has just been completed. The project investigated the stability of a large defect in the weld butteringjoining ferritic and austenitic pipes subject to bending loads. TWI contributed to this project by determining the fracture properties of the buttering material, measuring the surface residual stresses in the weld and successfullypredicting the growth behaviour of the defect using advanced finite element and fracture mechanics analysis.

Farnborough 2004
