The international welding community has a new member - The Welding Institute of Malaysia (WIM).

South East Asia already has welding bodies in adjacent nations such as Thailand and Singapore. 'But there was no organisation dedicated to welding activity in Malaysia' Tim Jessop, TWI's Associate Director of Professional Affairsand Certification told Connect. 'It is a good step forward for Malaysia and the affiliation with TWI will provide us with a new channel of communication to support our activities in the region'.

WIM has been accepted as a member of the International Institute of Welding.

The objectives of the new institute are to improve the knowledge of welding in Malaysia and encourage best practice in the use of materials, engineering and allied processes and also to provide a focus for individuals andorganisations involved in welding and associated technologies.
