Workshop on Stainless steel fabrication - best practice
Following the success of earlier stainless steel fabrication workshops the next one will take place at TWI North East, Middlesbrough on Wednesday 25 October 2006.
The event will concentrate on practical help, including advice concerning grade selection, fabrication and welding 'dos and don'ts'. It will also highlight post-fabrication cleaning. It will be of interest to both experiencedstainless steel fabricators and also to those with little or no knowledge of the material.
Specialists from Outokumpu Stainless, TWI and the British Stainless Steel Association (BSSA) will outline best welding practices and correct some of the current misconceptions concerning fabricating with stainless steel.
The event is organised by TWI, Outokumpu Stainless and the BSSA in association with the Association of Welding Distributors. Both The Welding Institute and the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining will accredit the workshopas a CPD event.
Space is limited and previous workshops have been well attended, so early booking is recommended. The enrolment fee is £55 + VAT which includes lunch and a copy of the workshop handbook. Innovate 2006 - 2 November 2006
Come and see TWI staff at a major event targeting innovation and technology strategy at Innovate 2006. This event will bring together the 20 UK Knowledge Transfer Networks (KTNs), and will include a series of workshops addressingsuch themes as:
- Advanced materials: Future challenges for advanced materials
- Bioscience and healthcare: Convergence of health technologies
- Emerging energy technologies: The impact of emerging technologies on low emission hybrid-electric vehicles and stationary plant
- Design engineering and advanced manufacturing
- Electronics and photonics
TWI will be represented at their KTN exhibition stands: Health Technologies, National Composites Network (within the Materials KTN) and Photonics, as well as in the relevant workshops.
The event plenary speech will be given by the DTI Technology Strategy Board Chair, Graham Spittle (Vice President, Business Integration Development and Director, Hursley Laboratory, IBM).
