CSWIP NDT programme in India takes off

Dr Placid Rodriguez, President of the Indian Institute of Welding (IIW), has signed a memo of understanding in conjunction with TWI with a view to offering a joint CSWIP NDT programme for training and examinations.

Initial discussions took place between TWI and Dr Baldev Raj, a Director of the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (who is also on the Board of the IIW), in association with Mr Shahani - TWI's agent in India. It was agreedthat once approval has been gained, the courses will be run by Indian lecturers and TWI examination staff.

CSWIP Welding Inspection training and examinations have been run successfully in India in 1995/96 and this initial involvement led to IIW interest in an association with CSWIP NDT courses.

The agreement was signed at the end of 1995 for an initial two year period. Courses will be run at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam, Eastern India.
