The Adhesives, Composites & Sealants (ACS) Section encompasses all aspects of adhesives, reinforced thermoplastics and thermoset composites including materials and process selection and development, coatings, structural performance and modelling.  Services are provided across all industrial sectors, with our key markets being medical, aerospace, automotive and electronics.

We seek an experienced Project Manager with a good understanding of the uses of composites to join the ACS team.  The main role will be as a Composites Specialist within a Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN). This will require a good understanding of the needs of the composites community as well as understanding the gaps between the composites community and other communities represented by the other KTNs.

The role will require you to identify needs and to address these in a variety of ways which could include organising events, building consortia, securing funding for consortia, facilitating the formation of KTPs and CASE Awards between industry and academia, producing publications and case studies and where possible attracting private investment for the ideas developed.

This is a high profile role which will act as a career launch pad into the management of composite development activities of large publicly funded projects. You will also have interaction with the UK composites industry and be in a position to influence Government policy.

You will have an overview of composite materials in the context of Energy, Sustainability and High Value Markets which includes medical and defence.

Working in a creative and commercially-focused environment, you will be degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant engineering or science discipline, and have the ability to demonstrate your knowledge of composite materials and networking.

It is essential that you have the proven ability to develop and lead multi-disciplinary projects. You will be a confidant communicator with a track record in developing business as you will be expected to achieve business development targets as part of your objectives.

A track record in writing and winning R&D grant applications would be a distinct advantage.

This is a fixed term contract until June 2012.
