Scottish Nuclear Supply Chain Development

TWI is currently leading a 3-year Scottish Enterprise funded development programme for Scottish companies in, or intending to enter, civil nuclear supply chains. The programme delivers support to companies in areas such as improved tendering, accessing new customer networks, implementing new technologies and quality systems. This is done through one to one interventions and a programme of events including 'Meet the Buyer', tendering best practice, nuclear safety culture and cross-sector technology transfer. UK Nuclear Supply Chain Development

TWI recently completed a 3-year Nuclear Supply Chain Support Programme for the SMEs under the funding of the North West Development Agency (NWDA), where we led a strong delivery partnership with Business Link, Warrington Council, WCDA and National Nuclear Laboratory to provide technical and commercial supports to assist the region’s companies into nuclear supply chain. Towards a Low Carbon Manufacturing Region

We completed strategic consulting assignment on behalf of East Midlands Development Agency (emda) to map the competencies of manufacturing in East Midlands through rigorous supply chain and value chain analyses to identify low carbon opportunities and associated transition ‘carbon risks’ for regional manufacturing businesses in ten low carbon sectors. The project also developed the intervention mechanisms and to undertake a pilot programme with selected businesses.

UK Offshore Wind Supply Chain Assessment

Through the EG&S KTN, TWI partnered The Crown Estate to complete a national evidence-based survey to review arising opportunities & key challenges for UK supply chain businesses in offshore wind energy industry. The study examined current strengths and limitations of UK offshore wind supply base in order to put forward key recommendations towards a national focus. Report from this study was published in October 2010.
