Standardised Design Guideline for Offshore Wind Turbine Support Structures

The proposed work aims at developing design guidelines for offshore wind turbine support structures (OWTSS) on the basis of loading conditions specific to OWTSS. The work comprises of critically reviewing materials properties (ie toughness) recommended in different codes and comparing them with the toughness derived from more robust fracture mechanics models using OWTSS specific loading scenario. This together with proposed materials test results will also help to define the flaw acceptance criteria in the welded joints of various parts of OWTSS.
