Effect of Dynamic Loading on Pitting Corrosion Susceptibility

TWI has developed a technique to measure pitting susceptibility under corrosive and high pressure and temperature environments using short-term tests on unstressed specimens. It is now intended to investigate the effect of dynamic loading on pit initiation, because concern exists that dynamic loading may reduce pitting corrosion resistance, which may impact integrity or fatigue performance.
