How was my PCN (Personnel Certification in Non-Destructive Testing) mark calculated?

TWI Frequently asked questions

by Doug Wylie

With effect of 1st July 2009, the grading criteria for PCN examinations have changed.

The pass mark for each part of the examination, and for level 1 and 2 for each exam specimen tested, is 70%.

To be eligible for certification an overall score of at least 80% must be achieved. This is achieved by taking the averate score of the general, specific and practical examination parts. All exam scores shall be of equal weighting when calculating the average score.

For example

General Theory Mark: 80%   = 80 Specific Theory Mark: 75%   = 75 Practical Average Mark:
Sample 1 mark: 87%
(Written Instruction mark included in Sample 1 mark)
Sample 2 mark: 92%
Sample 3 mark: 85%
