Depending on the service conditions and molecular structures of the polymers used, they undergo changes in service. The changes can be brought about as a result of temperature, applied stresses, moisture, chemical diffusions, radiation or any combination of these factors. Additionally, multi-component materials may fail due to material incompatibility or poor interfacial adhesion.
